On Vancouver dream-pop two-piece Mu's sophomore release, II, Francesca Belcourt and Brittney Rand provide six songs that continue where debut release Mu left off, although this time around, they're putting forward a much more ethereal effort.

Opener "Disarmed" starts slowly with the sound of lapping waves floating through the background as Belcourt and Rand's vocals build over a musical crescendo. With delicate, auto-tuned vocals, the song lulls you into a dreamlike state that the rest of the EP continues. "Debauchery" appeared on Mu and returns once more on this release, whilst "Vampire" is the standout track here, featuring a chorus that will lodge itself firmly into your brain. Final track "My Hunter, My Forest" is a haunting closer and rounds off II nicely.

Mu aren't breaking any boundaries here, and it remains to be seen whether they can offer anything not currently offered by many of their peers, but it's certainly not going to hurt their reputation any; II is an assured and confident release.
