Keeping with Dead Oceans' recent roster expansion, the U.S.-based indie has scooped up Seattle's latest rock hope, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band. On March 10, the foursome - which boasts a 13-year-old drummer - will drop their self-titled debut full-length via their new label, cashing in on and hopefully living up to the piles of blog hype the band have been receiving over the past several months.
For Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band's first album foray, they've enlisted Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective) to co-produce the record, just like the group did on their self-released and handmade Weepy EP. The band have so far only given fans only a wee taste of their upcoming album via the freely downloadable track "Anchors Dropped," but with a newly announced North American tour all lined up, they'll be giving us a lot more chew on the coming months.
