Published Jun 18, 2009Record collectors get made fun of a lot, so we'll try to avoid that here. After all, we're record-collectin' geeks too, which is why we're excited that Spain's Acuarela Records has joined the likes of Sub Pop and Columbia House (kidding) with a new Singles Club.
The label has announced that it will be releasing a series of seven-inch records, with each being limited to 1,000 copies and with no plans for the releases or their rare, exclusive tracks to come out on CD.
The first two records, featuring material from English up-and-coming popsters the Wave Pictures and California-based punk/retro pop trio Agent Ribbons, are set to drop on July 1. And just take a look at who's like up for future releases: Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart, Mount Eerie, Windsor for the Derby, Tara Jane O'Neil, Hefner's Darren Hayman, Spain, Chris Brokaw, El Hijo (ex-Migala), Nick Castro, Inca Ore, the Drift, Bracken, Ben Wetherill, Barzin and the Wowz.
You can head to the label's Singles Club blog to find out information about upcoming releases and how to sign up for the club.
Now, when is someone going to finally start that 8-track-of-the-month club?
