The Motorleague

'Acknowledge, Acknowledge' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 4, 2013

Moncton punk rockers the Motorleague are the newest additions to the Sonic Records roster. Their sophomore album, Acknowledge, Acknowledge, will be out on June 11, but the entire thing is available to stream ahead of time through Exclaim.ca.

The album was recorded with producer Steve Rizun (the Flatliners, the Creepshow) and opens with the urgent, skate punk-inspired smasher "Good Men," with much of the album toeing a similar line. It also includes forays into acoustic-driven rootsiness ("Oh, How the Might Have Fallen") and cinematically building atmospherics ("Burned in Effigy").

"I never knew whether I wanted to be in a punk band or Fu Manchu rip-off," said the band's primary songwriter, Don Levandier, in a statement. He's joined on the album by Shawn Chaisson (bass/vocals), Francis Landry (drums) and Nathan Jones (guitar/vocals).
