Mother Mother

"Let's Fall in Love" (video)

Vancouver pop eclectics Mother Mother already gave us a taste of their upcoming album The Sticks with the upbeat single "Let's Fall in Love." Now, that track has got its own music video.

Directed by Kathi Prosser, the clip portrays an unhappy relationship and shows a couple staring one another down in the kitchen. This is soon intercut with black and white footage of the pair donning gloves and giving one another a beating in a boxing ring.

The band, meanwhile, play the song while looking slightly bloodied-up in the same boxing ring, making for a slightly disturbing accompaniment to this catchy song.

In statement, Mother Mother's Ryan Guldemond explains, "Despite the starry-eyed title, 'Let's Fall in Love' is a song about the fool hardy and tumultuous nature of love, and what better way to depict this than a stagnant married couple metaphorically beating the shit out of each other?"

Check out the clip for yourself below.

The Sticks drops on September 18 through Last Gang Records, and you can pre-order it on iTunes here.
