Published May 01, 2012From Igloofest to Mars Attack! to MUTEK, Montreal has its share of stellar electronic music institutions, but let's not forget about Piknic Électronik, a concert series that will be celebrating its tenth season in 2012.
This year's program features 20 events in all, which take place on Sundays from May 20 to September 30 across two stages at Montreal's Jean-Drapeau Park. Plus, over a 100 acts will be playing the annual event.
The first instalment is a two-day extravaganza, with acts like Art Department, Tone of Arc and Dubfire appearing on May 20 and 21. From there, artists playing at Piknic Électronik include Machinedrum, Misstress Barbara, Margaret Dygas, Claude VonStroke, Pheek, Lee Burridge, Miguel Graça, Éloi Brunelle, Benoit & Sergio, Mossa, Fred Everything, Jacques Greene, Justin Martin, Mateo Murphy, MightyKat, Nina Kraviz, Sascha Dive, and many more.
A press release notes that the lineup highlights emerging talent, in addition to artists who have helped to make Piknic Électronik a success over the years. Many of the performers are also local Montreal acts.
