Published May 17, 2012Montreal is developing a reputation for high-profile electronic music festivals, but what about the city's folk fans? Lovers of all things rootsy and acoustic will be catered to with fifth instalment of the annual Folk Festival on the Canal, which will take place from June 14 to 17 of this year.
Among the artists who have signed on to perform at the event are Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary), Plants and Animals, Carolyn Mark, Dala, Jim Kweskin (joined by members of the Ever Lovin' Jug Band/Lake of Stew), Kevin Parent, Les Soeurs Boulay, Notre Dame de Grass, Rob Lutes, Bent by Elephants and more.
These artists will perform along the the Lachine Canal. In a statement, festival co-founder Matt Large said that concertgoers can expect "a rich folk music experience in a fun, family-friendly environment with a number of local food options."
The program also includes a children's area, canoe tours on the canal, and urban camping under the stars for 100 families (which costs $88 per family).
