Monomyth Sign to Mint Records for 'Saturnalia Regalia!'

Halifax garage-pop combo Monomyth have impressed us with their self-released EPs and stellar live shows over the last couple of years, so we're more than a little pleased to see all their hard work is finally paying off. Today the East Coast four-piece announced they have signed to Mint Records for their debut full-length, Saturnalia Regalia!, which will arrive July 22.

An announcement from the label identifies a laundry list of sonic touchstones, including Sloan, Thrush Hermit, the Super Friendz, Big Star, the dB's, the Soft Boys, My Bloody Valentine and Relatively Clean Rivers. In fact, Super Friendz bassist Charles Austin even helped out with Saturnalia Regalia!'s production.

The band's sound is described as "janglophile pop with a smirking sense of humour, stadium-sized hooks, and starry-eyed harmonies from the barbershop of broken dreams."

For a taste of this, stream the album cut "Candleholder" below. It's a dreamy garage ditty with watery guitar licks and an instrumental break lifted from "Please Please Me." It turns into a tuneful waltz in the second half before transforming back in the final moments.

Scroll past the band's tour schedule to listen. That's the album cover above.
