Relatively unknown outside of the East Coast — or Halifax, for that matter — Monomyth are quickly becoming the next big thing in the city. Seamlessly merging surf-rock harmonies and shoegaze guitar action, the enigmatic four-piece played a set that covered singles from their young career with a slew of new tunes off their upcoming album. The My Bloody Valentine-meets-Beatles drudge of "Feeling" fit right at home in the cramped dancehall, as guitarist Josh Salter's vibrato-heavy solo cascaded across the sea of happy faces. Engaging in some mild stage banter between songs (including one reference to a new track being inspired by the late, great Tupac), it was easy to see the band felt right at home playing on one of the city's biggest venues. These guys are destined for bigger things.
