Moldy Peaches Change Lyrics To Hit Song For Atlantis Resorts

Indie-leaning acts selling songs to advertisers is nothing new. In fact, it’s a pretty common practice these days. Rarely, though, do bands completely rewrite a song to cater to corporate interests, yet that’s exactly what Moldy Peaches have done with their song "Anyone Else But You.”

In a new ad for the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, Moldy Peaches’ Kimya Dawson and Adam Green have reworked their Juno hit to deliver the advertisers’ "message.” Now instead of lines like, "You're a part-time lover and a full-time friend/ The monkey on you're back is the latest trend” you have, "Let’s go ride a couple of dolphins/Or maybe play tennis/Or do some golfing.” On the visual side, the new lines are set to flashy images of rich, white yuppies doing their vacation thing, and looking oh so happy while doing so.

The song’s change-ups all come in attempts to coax you into booking a three-night stay at the resort "to experience the wonder” (for the price of $299). Yet for Moldy Peaches fans, the ad will just likely leave them wondering how the duo could sink so low. But the answer to that is really quite simple: money — likely a lot of it.
