Modern English to Bring Reunited Line-Up to Toronto on North American Tour

Published Jun 3, 2010

Modern English, the poppy British post-punkers best remembered for their classic 1982 pop tune "I Melt With You," have announced a string of North American dates to show off their recently reunited line-up. And although it's not exactly Canada-heavy, a Toronto, ON show is going down in July.

The shows mark the first time that vocalist Robbie Grey, bassist Mick Conroy, guitarist Gary McDowell, and keyboardist Stephen Walker - the band's original founding members - will perform live together since the mid-'80s. Joining them will be new guitarist Steve Walker, and although the press release announcing this made no mention of a drummer, one can assume there will indeed be one; Roy Martin was last seen pounding the skins for the guys. The Toronto gig is on July 15 at Lee's Palace; full dates are below.

Modern English are celebrating their 31st year together (minus a few break-ups in there, of course) with a new album, which was released on May 24. Soundtrack is their seventh studio album and was released on Darla Records. It's their first disc since 1996's Everything is Mad.

Tour dates:

7/10 Louisville, KY - Forecastle Festival
7/11 Chicago, IL - Double Door
7/14 Foxboro, MA - Showcase Live
7/15 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace
7/16 New York, NY - Le Poisson Rouge
