BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 11, 2015

UK electronic musician Matthew James Wilcox makes his music under the moniker Model 86, and he's set to drop his debut EP Self Help Dance next week. Before it officially arrives on September 18, though, Exclaim! is giving you an advanced listen to the full collection.

Drawing from a wide range of influences that includes modern electronica, '90s hip-hop and film scores, Wilcox crafts his songs together using unconventional samples and sound design.

From moments of chilled-out ambience to freaky glitched-out streaks to cinematic soundscapes, Self Help Dance delivers tracks that constantly bend and morph to keep the listener excited, engaged and in suspense.

The title comes from Wilcox's own experience with anti-depressants and fascination with mental health issues, providing some intimate insight into an overarching theme of trying to help yourself. Join him in his sonic journey through self-discovery and musical experimentation by giving Self Help Dance an early spin in the player below.
