Decades after the advent of illegal downloading, the music industry continues to wail and gnash its teeth as it tries to find new ways to make money. Among those methods is the "meet-and-greet," where fans are able to get their photo taken with their favourite artist for a fee. And the Misfits' Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein wants you to know that he fucking hates them.

Appearing on The Liquid Conversations podcast [via Consequence of Sound], Doyle explained that he's not making enough money from record sales and thus feels forced to participate in meet-and-greets.

"The thing that sucks the most about it is that everybody steals music," he said. "You spend thousands and thousands of dollars to make a record and all of these scumbags are just stealing it. And then they want more, and then you're a dick because you're doing a meet-and-greet for 50 fucking bucks to make up for it, which you don't want to do."

He continued: "You think I want to meet all these fucking people? I don't. When I'm done, I just want to take a shower and go to bed."

That said, Doyle's also not down with those who would criticize him for charging $50 for a photo op.

"They can kiss my ass," he said of his haters. "You want to steal shit? If I was making motorcycles and they came and took one, would that be a crime? Why can't we punish people for stealing songs? There should be a $10,000 fine for that."

It appears that Doyle also counts streaming services among those that are stealing from him. After all, he doesn't understand how the companies are paying bands so little.

"You make nothing. It's $9 a month, and you can listen to a song 10,000 times if you want," he said of streaming services like Spotify. "I can't do the math, but how much do you think the bands get? It's like a hundredth, maybe a thousandth of a penny you get. My girlfriend [Arch Enemy singer Alissa White-Gluz] went to [Spotify's] office, said that shit was insane. I would've went fucking mental, I would've started breaking everything."

In other words, don't expect Doyle to be invited to the Spotify offices any time soon.
