Published Aug 27, 2008Those fine folks at Mint Records have been releasing quality Canadian indie rock for years and refuse to slow down. So far, 2008 has been a banner year for the label, with quality releases from Vancougar, the Pack AD, Young and Sexy, Hot Panda and the Awkward Stage. Now, things look to get even better at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
To be held on October 19 in Edmonton, the sixth annual award ceremony recognizes Mints quality releases with a nomination for Independent Record Label of the Year. Other Mint nominees include Carolyn Marks Nothing is Free for Outstanding Solo Roots Recording, the Evaporators Gassy Jack and Other Tales for Outstanding Rock Recording and Immaculate Machines Fables for Outstanding Independent Album.
To coincide with the award ceremony, the WCMA will also be presenting a music festival with over 60 bands. While the schedule has yet to be announced, Mint promises performances from the Buttless Chaps and the Ramblin Ambassadors.
