Van Gundy

The Minks play a refined brand of intricate pop music, crafting songs with a multitude of skilful transitions and inventive melodies. Hailing from Calgary, the band tips their hats towards a fine selection of some of indie rock's more notable groups, including Dinosaur Jr., the Replacements and Superchunk. The Minks' debut disc (reportedly named after former New York Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy) features exceedingly impressive tunes that are expertly enhanced by a superb production that fills stereo speakers with precision. With their sophisticated pop and indie rock, the Minks add keen liveliness and talent to genres that have become increasingly uneven within Canada in recent years.
