Miley Cyrus Unites Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith for Metallica Covers Album

After spilling the beans about a future Metallica covers album last fall, Miley Cyrus has dropped some more hints about her role in the upcoming project, which is apparently being helmed by prolific producer Andrew Watt.

In conversation with Roman Kemp for the UK radio show Capital Breakfast, Cyrus explained that the project will bring the likes of Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith together.

"I did a Metallica cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' featuring Elton John on piano. I've got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith... so many all-stars," she said. "I'm so excited about this collaboration. I'm really stoked. Having Elton John and Metallica and me — I love when ingredients don't quite fit. Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together and you've gotta have some wild enough like Watt that will take that risk."

Cyrus first brought her love of Metallica to the fore with her 2019 Glastonbury performance of "Nothing Else Matters." Then, back in October, she shared news of her involvement in putting the cover album together. So far, few other details about the release have emerged.

The singer, meanwhile, just released her rock-centric record Plastic Hearts back in November. Read our review of the album here.
