It's no shock that Toronto pop-rock trio the Miles share a musical sensibility with their pals in Spiral Beach but, much like their idiosyncratic peers, these young music virtuosos are onto a sound all their own.
"She Knew" serves as the introduction to their energetic new album Blood on My Blazer and when I saw the band play it live during the Pitter Patter Musical Festival over the weekend, it was one of many inspired moments where the Miles meshed the new wave geekdom of They Might Be Giants with the sardonic punk proficiency of NoMeansNo. The strange amalgam is somewhat contrary yet spirited and dance-able — hallmarks of many of the defiant, infectious songs by the Miles.
