Formations

BY I. KhiderPublished Feb 1, 2003

Take several music boxes for toddlers, extract the individual notes and arrange them in a sophisticated yet improvised manner, and thus one might get a relatively close approximation of what Formations sounds like. The music is gentle, like a lullaby, but the absence of conventional melody makes it sound far more interesting. For those eager to categorise Formations, there is enough atmosphere and resonating overtones from the notes, as simple as they are, to call it ambient, yet improvised minimal electronic music would also be apt. Mileece has created Formations to reflect her fascination in random numeric patterns that occur throughout nature, such as formations in snow flakes, sprouts from plants and falling rain drops. In other words: chaos theory. The concepts are very ambitious to express in music, luckily Mileece took the simplest route to express her interests.
