Mike Patton Set to Score Upcoming Horror Film 'The Vatican Tapes'
Mike Patton is set to add another credit to his career as a film scorer, with news that the prolific genre-dabbler will be prepping new sounds for the upcoming horror film The Vatican Tapes.

A press release confirms that the Faith No More frontman is tied to the project, which is being directed by Mark Neveldine (Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). Patton has teamed up with the filmmaker before, having provided the score for 2009's Crank: High Voltage.

Starring in the film, said to be about "a Vatican exorcism gone very, very awry," are Michael Pena (American Hustle, Tower Heist) and Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator, Blood Diamond). It's set to hit theatres sometime in 2014.

It should be noted that Patton has a handle on spooky-sounding soundtracks, having served up the impressive The Director's Cut with Fantômas back in 2001.

In related news, Patton's score for Ryan Gosling vehicle The Place Beyond the Pines was deemed eligible for the 86th Academy Awards. The official Oscar nominations will be revealed on January 16.
