Midget Handjob

Midnight Snack Break at the Poodle Factory

Since punk rock is far too energetic for Keith Morris to be performing these days in his near geriatric state (after the last Circle Jerks reunion tour), he's geared things down a little. Instead of fading away from the Los Angeles music scene, he's trying to stay in the game with his spoken word, experimental music project known as Midget Handjob. Recruiting the likes of Jon and Chris from Clawhammer, Quasar from Lutefisk, Kevin from the Geraldine Fibbers and Tony from Detox truly makes this band one of all-star proportions. However, if you're trying to imagine a band sounding like all of these bands meshed together, think again. Midget Handjob are a pseudo-beatnik band for the new millennium, a true spoken word, deconstructed jazz mess. And although people like William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and Charles Bukowski vaguely come to mind when listening to Midget Handjob, Keith Morris really has his own thing going for him. Just listen to "Hurricane Morris," "Mail-order Revolution" or "Ugly Day" and you'll understand. His sarcastic and humorous analogies backed by an obscure junkyard band really make for a highly entertaining listen from start to finish. Not recommended for everyone, just those who get it.
