Mid-State Orange Flag Festival

If Belle & Sebastian ever dumped their Smiths and Felt-obsessed ways, they might sound something like Mid-State Orange. Based out of London, this quartet focuses its energy on pumping out pop songs of a good spirited nature. Thankfully, they know how to go about it in more than one way. The title track is a speedy number that has David Gedge's influence written all over it, especially in how much it makes your head nod back and forth, while "So Hard" is a Teenage Fanclub-ish ode to country that doesn't lose any of its rhythm and "Bus" features Morgane Lhote (Stereolab) tickling the keyboards in her patented style to the quick and nimble drumbeats. This EP could be the soundtrack to any feet that have the blues. (Drive-In)
