Michel Gondry and Jon Brion Reteam for a Yogurt Commercial

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 10, 2017

Director Michel Gondry and composer Jon Brion proved themselves winning creative collaborators when they joined forces for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind back in 2004, and now they've reteamed for something totally different.

The pair have just unveiled an unexpected new project — in the form of a yogurt commercial. Yes, Chobani enlisted the duo to create an ad, and it features Gondry behind the camera as a group of dairy enthusiasts perform a new arrangement of Burt Bacharach's "What the World Needs Now."

Fitting with the healthy breakfast motif, the composition is played on instruments constructed out of actual fruit wired with contact mic. The edible orchestra includes an array of percussion made out of everything from coconuts, apples and oranges to bananas, peaches, melons and berries, as well as a pineapple that stands in for a string section.
