Michael Fakesch/ Various Exchange
The remixes in this collection were innovated by mastermind Michael Fakesch, formerly of IDM duo Funkstorung (the word meaning "transmission interference" in English). On hearing these tracks it comes as no surprise the man has been manipulating sound design for Toyota, Vodafone and Kia after he and Chris De Luca parted ways. These remixes are both smart and catchy. This record begins with "Lambs Anger/Jo" by Mr. Oizo, with a twisty accentuation of drumbeats and a vocal sample all smoothly percolated in the fly Oizo way. The following remix of Booka Shade's "Mandarine Girl" is lovingly translucent, sounding vaguely of a sparsely minimal "1998" by Binary Finary. Shadowhuntaz' "Head In A Noose" brings the hip-hop noise to a whack digital place. The main thing bringing these tunes together is the unique, standalone vibe on each one. Fakesch offers a peek into the worlds of hip-hop, IDM, pop and trance, all connected by the click-y style of Michael Fakesch's sonically reverberating intuition and gravity. You won't want to Exchange these innovative beats. (Musik aus Strom)
