M.I.A. recently unveiled a new socially minded single titled "Borders," which will appear on her upcoming album Matahdatah. And although we're still awaiting full details for the next LP, the just-released track has now been paired with a video.
As the song raises questions about freedom, identity and privilege, the clip sees M.I.A. travelling with throngs of refugees. They climb fences and wade through water in a highly stylized attempt to find safety.
