MGMT singer Andrew VanWyngarden seems to have been watching the famous Saturday Night Live skit about Blue Öyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," since he seemed determined to give us "more cowbell" when he showed up last night (August 22) for the Late Show with David Letterman.
The band played the psych-pop track "Your Life Is a Lie," and VanWyngarden donned sparkly star-shaped glasses frames while accenting each bar by banging on an oversized cowbell with a baseball bat-sized drumstick. Strangely, the cowbell had the words "BE AWARE" scrawled on the side of it.
MGMT's self-titled album is due out September 17 through Columbia.
