'MGMT' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 9, 2013

MGMT conquered the radio with their 2007 album Oracular Spectacular and its hit singles "Kids," "Time to Pretend" and "Electric Feel," but since then, they've gone a more left-field direction. That psychedelic journey continues with the arrival of the band's new self-titled album, which is due out on September 17 through Columbia. Until then, the album is available to stream in full through Rdio.

This isn't your average album stream, since it's being presented in a special format dubbed The Optimizer, A Unique Audio and Visual Experience Created by MGMT. Produced by the band's visual collaborator Alejandro Crawford, The Optimizer offers a full artistic accompaniment to the album's 44-minute runtime.

As for the music, the album includes cuts like the tripped-out robo-rocker "Your Life Is a Lie" and the synth-skewed folk-pop ditty "Alien Days."

To check it out, sign up for Rdio and stream MGMT here.
