METZ Cover Sparklehorse for Record Store Day Single

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 19, 2012

Just when we thought we already knew about all of the exclusive releases that would be coming our way this Record Store Day (April 21), we've caught wind of a new seven-inch from Toronto noisemakers METZ.

The limited split single will house a previously unheard METZ cover of Sparklehorse's "Pig" and will be an especially exclusive release since it will only be available from one store: Sonic Boom in Toronto. The shop will exclusively sell 150 copies of the single, each of which was hand-screened and numbered.

Metz said in a statement, "We had this Sparklehorse cover that we recorded during the sessions for our new record and this seemed like a good way to release it."

On the B-side of this split will be a cut from Toronto Kraut-loving experimentalists Fresh Snow, who are offering up a song called "BMX Based Tactics." You can listen to both of the songs from the seven-inch at the bottom of the page, so scroll past METZ's tour dates to listen.

Tour dates:

6/13 Ottawa, ON - Ottawa Explosion

6/15 Toronto, ON - NXNE

6/16 Toronto, ON - Phoenix *
