Published Feb 02, 2009Say the name and everyone will think you're talking baseball, but spell it out and well, for the time being, they'll think you can't spell. But with their onslaught of sludge and pummelling noise, Toronto's Metz will soon own that name outright amongst aggros still desperate for dope, guns and fucking in the streets. Channelling the likes of Jesus Lizard, Some Girls and your pick of the AmRep roster, Metz smash, scrape and rattle their gear for a surprisingly tuneful fracas. Taken from their new seven-inch (limited to 300 copies on three colours of vinyl) released by We Are Busy Bodies, "Soft Whiteout" is a build-it-up-and-tear-it-down behemoth charged by stabbing riffage, ardent squalls and triumphant dissonance.
The trio have a bunch of dates throughout Ontario and Quebec in the coming months (see below), including a mini-tour supporting label-mates dd/mm/yyyy.
