Metric and Death Cab for Cutie Pair Up for "Lights on the Horizon" Canadian Tour

Metric and Death Cab for Cutie are teaming up to bring indie rock to the Canadian masses this spring. The bands have announced plans for a co-headlining stint dubbed the "Lights on the Horizon" tour that will take them across 10 cities early next year.

"[Death Cab for Cutie bassist] Nick Harmer and I worked on creating the poster artwork together, and while we were on the phone riffing on imagery and ideas for what to call the tour we decided on Lights on the Horizon," explained Metric frontwoman Emily Haines in a statement. "I was standing on a rooftop at sunset looking out at the Statue of Liberty at the time and it just felt right. The name expressed our shared desire to focus on what lies ahead, creatively and personally, so we went with it."

Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard echoed the enthusiasm, adding, "We're so excited about touring with Metric, a band that we've been fans of for a long time, and also to be playing shows in a number of Canadian cities that we've never been to previously."

The tour will kick off on March 19 in Montreal before making four Ontario stops and heading further west through Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton and Calgary. The final show will take place in Vancouver on April 1. See the full list of dates below.

Metric released their latest LP Pagans in Vegas earlier this year, while Death Cab for Cutie returned with a new record called Kintsugi back in the spring.
