Method Man Arrested for Tax Evasion

Original Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man has been arrested for tax evasion, according to various reports. As a press release from the Staten Island District Attorney's Office explained, the rapper (born Clifford Smith) failed to pay nearly $33,000 owing in personal income taxes.

Method Man turned himself in earlier today (October 5) and was charged with two counts of tax evasion. Potentially, he could face up to four years in prison on top of the owed money, with interest.

In a statement, district attorney Daniel Donovan explained that the MC would be "aggressively investigated and prosecuted," explaining that "Taxes are a burden that all citizens share in a civil society, whether you're an average Joe on the street or a high-profile rap artist... Because of the alleged action of people like Mr. Smith, law abiding citizens face higher taxes and reduced government services."

In other words, it'll probably be a while before we get to hear the rumoured Method Man/Ghostface/Raekwon/RZA reunion album Smith was talking about in July.
