Want to showcase your scholarly knowledge of Metallica in a way that really brings the room together? Fortunately, the superstar metal group have just the thing — a coffee table book about the making of Master of Puppets.
The book is called Metallica: Back to the Front and was written with Matt Taylor (Jaws: Memories from Martha's Vineyard). In a new video (available below), drummer Lars Ulrich introduced the book.
"Matt sat with us for exclusive, intensive interviews and we dug deep in our memory banks for stories, anecdotes, tidbits and tales from the studio, the road and beyond," the band said in a statement. "We hit the storage lockers, attics and basements to fill the book with hundreds of never-before-seen images pulled from our personal archives and have been involved every step of the way to bring you the complete story."
Back to the Front will hit shelves on September 13, but an exclusive Collector's Edition of the book will be available on August 30 through Metallica.com.
The Collector's Edition will arrive in a special case that will include the hardcover, clothbound, limited edition book as well as a portfolio containing a 1.25" x 1.25" piece of an original roadcase used to ship the band's equipment to Denmark for the recording of the album.
