Metallica Planning 3D Film

If you are one of the many music fans who has been making fun of Metallica's collaboration with Lou Reed, the bizarre Lulu, then you'll be pleased to know that the metal gods have already set their sights on a new project that has nothing to with the Velvet Underground vocalist. This time, the band will reportedly be making a 3D movie.

According to Deadline, the band are self-financing the project and they have teamed up with producer Charlotte Huggins, who has previously spearheaded the 3D flicks Journey to the Center of the Earth and its newly completed sequel, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

There's no word as to exactly what Metallica have planned, but they're apparently searching for a director to helm the feature. This likely means a concert film, but it's also possible that the band have something more ambitious or conceptual planned. Who knows, maybe they feel like filming their therapy sessions in 3D this time?

In other news, Metallica have a tribute art exhibit called Obey Your Master coming to Los Angeles's Exhibit A Gallery. It launches on January 20 and runs to March 23. Various artists chose a Metallica song and then interpreted in visually for the exhibit.

Meanwhile, Lou Reed and Metallica's Lulu drops on November 1 via Warner Bros. Take a very cautious listen over at Loutallica's website.
