Published Apr 10, 2017Apparently Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo has taught his kid the tricks of his trade, because his 12-year-old son Tye has just been recruited to fill in on bass during an upcoming Korn tour.
Due to "unforeseen circumstances," Korn's regular four-stringer Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu is unable to join the band on their upcoming South American trek, so the young Trujillo will be stepping out on stage in his place.
The youngster can usually be found showing off his musical chops in the North California-based band the Helmets, but will serve as an honorary member of Korn for seven shows starting on April 17 in Colombia.
Arvizu is expected to rejoin Korn for their North American shows this summer.
"We are bummed Fieldy can't join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye," Korn said in a statement via Facebook. "We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May."
Canadian fans should be able to catch Arvizu back with the band when Korn stops off in Toronto on July 25 at the Budweiser Stage. You can see the band's complete upcoming itinerary over here.
