Metallica Announce Live Soundtrack for 3D Film

Metallica Announce Live Soundtrack for 3D Film
Metallica's 3D film Metallica Through the Never is due out on September 27 in IMAX theatres, and that same week, it will get a soundtrack release. Metallica Through the Never (Music from the Motion Picture) is due out on September 24 via Blackened Recordings.

Like the movie, the soundtrack documents the band's 2012 sets from Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The double-CD live set is heavy on back catalogue classics, including cuts like "Enter Sandman," "Nothing Else Matters," "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets," "One" and "Creeping Death." The only song from their latest album, 2008's Death Magnetic, included here is "Cyanide."

In addition to the usual CD and digital formats, the album will be released on vinyl later in the fall. It will be available on standard 33 1/3 RPM wax, in addition to a deluxe numbered edition on 45 RPM.

"Let's hear it for the old-school soundtrack!" drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. "Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way fuckin' cool."
