Published Mar 20, 2013In the latest episode of Exclaim! TV's Aggressive Tendencies series, we feature Swedish experimental tech-metal masters Meshuggah.
During a stop at Toronto's Sound Academy while on their recent tour with Intronaut and Animals as Leaders, Exclaim! TV caught up with Meshuggah guitarist Mårten Hagström. He discussed the band's latest album, Koloss, why it took them four years to release and how their sound has progressed since they first started out. Hagström also talked about the lyrical themes on the new record, how it feels to have influenced countless bands, as well the origin of the term "djent" and what he thinks about it being a descriptor for Meshuggah's music.
Meshuggah's Koloss is out now via Nuclear Blast and is the follow-up to 2008's obZen.
