Mirage

BY Kevin Stewart-PankoPublished May 1, 2001

This Swedish band are definitely proficient musicians who got hooked up with an equally proficient knob twiddler, but Mirage is a prime example of the fact that musicianship can only get you so far. As oxymoronic as it may sound, it still rings true, especially as you are subjected to this heartless and soulless gothic, doomy power metal. I'm sure every note is meticulously played, every riff perfectly recreated and every high pitched caterwaul perfectly in key, but this is so sterile that you could perform surgery on it. Yawn.
