Far be it from me to belabour a point (or a band for that matter) but the debut EP from Philadelphia's Memory Cassette was pretty damn awesome. Hot on its heels, the mysterious knob twiddler has dropped a remix EP and is giving the whole thing away for free via their Weird Tapes blog.
True to any good remix, the tracks on Calls and Responses bear little resemblance to their originals. Snail a Whale takes "Surfin'" to new ethereal highs while Weird Tapes, which is actually one of Memory Cassette's alter egos give the song a little more bounce. Meanwhile label-mate and equally mysterious beatsmith CFCF takes gives "Last One Awkake" a nice Harold Faltermeyer groove. Axel Foley would be proud.
