Melvins Team Up with Original Drummer for New Album 'Tres Cabrones'

Sludgy noise rock masters the Melvins spent the earlier portion of the year with Scion A/V, who sponsored their free EP The Bulls and the Bees. Now, however, the group have gone back to their roots for a new LP called Tres Cabrones.

Not only does the new album see the group once again working with Ipecac Recordings, but more importantly it sees them reuniting with original drummer Mike Dillard.

"Tres Cabrones is as close as we're willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up," Buzz Osborne said in a press release. "The best part is it's all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we wrote 30 years ago and chose instead to simply create NEW songs. It worked out perfectly."

Dillard, who left the band in 1984, added, "Making the Tres Cabrones record was a real treat indeed. It's a trip down memory lane complete with debauchery and ultra violence."

Tres Cabrones will be available on November 4. Thanks to Lambgoat for the tip.
