The Melvins "Brass Cupcake"

The Melvins "Brass Cupcake"
After delivering the album art and tracklisting details for Hold It In earlier this week, sludge lords the Melvins have now offered up a surprisingly poppy first single from the set called "Brass Cupcake."

Despite the distorted crunch, the palm-muted guitar work brings Torche-like textures to the track, in which Buzz Osborne sings about a lady with "a nice set of teeth." If you were worried about the sunny nature of the song, the voice-cracking teenage shrieks in the chorus lends an uncomfortable quality to the track, while the bridge brings oddly-timed prog-metal back to the forefront.

While it's noted in song that there are "a lot of mouths to feed," the narrative also suggests you might not want to snack on the metallic dessert in question. Regardless, you can feast on the "Brass Cupcake" down below, courtesy of Rolling Stone. The album arrives October 14 via Ipecac Recordings.
