It's well-known that Montreal's Melissa Auf der Maur is a multi-talented performer. Many know her as the former bassist for Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins, but over the years she has proven to be both an excellent photographer and filmmaker. An upcoming tour is about to tout all of her skills.
As previously reported, the artist channelled several disciplines to completeOut of Our Minds, her recent album/film/graphic novel, and now Auf der Maur is ready to take the whole shebang on the road.
In a press release, Auf der Maur explains that a small run of Canadian shows will incorporate all of Out of Our Mind's elements, saying, "Out of Our Minds has been a project of experimentation and creative expansion for me. Exploration into music, film and extensive collaboration with artists in and out of music. As 2010 comes to an end, it's time for me to take it on the road."
The musician will be backed by different bands depending on the night, with Songs From a Room in London, ON (November 2), Balconies in Ottawa (November 5) and Final Flash supporting her for the rest of the gigs. As for visuals, Montreal film collective Foumalade will be projecting scenes from the film, as well as other assorted images to punch up the performance.
