Meek Mill Launches Dream Chasers Record Label with JAY-Z's Roc Nation

Meek Mill is launching his Dream Chasers record label in a joint venture with Roc Nation founder JAY-Z.

The pair confirmed the collaboration, inked a deal and popped champagne at a news conference in New York yesterday (July 23).

Mill will serve as the president of Dream Chasers, overseeing the label and staff.

"Of course I had offers to do a lot of business with other people, but the relationship we've built from [Roc Nation] believing in me through my whole career, through my ups and downs and the morals they showed to me and my team when it wasn't in their best interest to have showed it — I feel comfortable going through this right here at home," Mill said. "We're ready to work. We're just starting the beginning of a new chapter, a new page."

JAY-Z, meanwhile, praised Mill's "honesty," "integrity" and "sense of responsibility."

"Everything that he's done leading up to this point, it showed that he can carry that weight for the next generation of people," JAY-Z said. "Everybody can sign some artists, make some money and brag about how hot they are for ... [but] for us, we look at the big picture. For us, it's way beyond signing hot artists and having a hot record."

JAY-Z was a vocal advocate for Mill when the Philadelphia rapper was imprisoned in 2017 for a minor violation of probation from gun and drug possession charges dating back more than a decade. Both rappers were amongst the first to join the Reform Alliance, a coalition lobbying the government to change state probation and parole laws.
