Meek Is Murder

Algorithms

BY Keith CarmanPublished Mar 22, 2011

Unfortunately when most musicians leave a band of notoriety, they tend to deliver material that pales in comparison. Such is not the case with Meek Is Murder and scathing wallop Algorithms. Featuring previous members from acts such as the Red Chord, Empyreon and Dividing Light, their past accomplishments are nothing to sneer at. Still, with an album that thunders, explodes, scorches and shreds all in under 20 minutes, while still showcasing a six-minute opus, Meek Is Murder are ready to obliterate all connotations to their former outings. From demolishing moments of sheer grindcore, such as "Foo," through the screeching/wailing attacks of dexterity "Dining Philosophers" and "Return Void," Algorithms (recorded by an in-the-groove Kurt Ballou) takes the intense fisticuffs of Lords, smashes it against Pig Destroyer's rabid proficiency and still comes across like an exorcism gone incredibly... right?
