Maylee Todd

Island Stage, Guelph ON July 27

Toronto performer Maylee Todd brought her A game to the Island Stage on the first night of Hillside. Her supporting musicians were decked out as colourfully as Todd herself, which only added to the immediately fun vibes of the show. Blending disco, funk and good old-fashioned pop music, the band ran through an eclectic set including recent single "Hieroglyphics" and a ridiculously enjoyable cover of Hall and Oates's "I Can't Go for That" during the short but sweet performance. Todd even jumped in and joined the crowd on the floor as the tent transformed into an early evening dance party. No one sounded quite like Maylee Todd for the rest of the weekend, showcasing both Hillside's attention to sonic diversity and the Toronto singer's ability to engage an audience with her quirky musical choices.
