Matt Mays Says Rob Ford Stole His Seat at NFL Game
Controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's name has been all over the news lately, and today (December 1), he had a brush with the music world. Ford attended an NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons that was held at Toronto's Rogers Centre, and songwriter Matt Mays has claimed that the mayor stole his seat.

The singer tweeted, "Rob Ford is sitting in my seat at the Bills game. He stole my seat. I don't know what to do." He added, "I'm by myself. I gotta kick him out right? I mean I would kick anyone else out... Am I wrong?"

He continued, "The mayor stole my [email protected]#%ing seat man!!" before finally announcing, "Got my seat back." Unsurprisingly, the comments prompted a big reaction on Twitter.

Mays spoke with the National Post about the alleged incident, explaining, "The poor usher guy was like, 'Dude, I don't really know what to tell you right now — Mayor Rob Ford is in your seat, bro,'" Mays said. "It was kind of entertaining."

Ford apparently showed up shortly after kickoff, with Mays arriving shortly after that. According to the National Post, Ford remained in the seat for most of the first half.

Clearly, Mays doesn't harbour any ill will over the apparent seat-swiping. "I don't think it was intentional," Mays said. "But I mean, I just thought it was funny that out of 60,000 seats, he's in mine. I wasn't mad. I just thought it was funny."

He didn't offer an opinion on the mayor's politics.

Mays has been touring behind last year's Coyote album. See his upcoming tour schedule below.
