Matt Andersen has lifted the curtain on a new album. The New Brunswick singer-songwriter will share The Big Bottle of Joy on March 10 via Sonic Records.

Following last year's House to HouseThe Big Bottle of Joy is not only the name of Andersen's forthcoming 12-song set, but the name of the eight-piece band the artist put together to brew its blend of "raw blues-rock, rollicking Americana, thoughtful folk, and ecstatic gospel."

Andersen's ensemble of some of the East coast's finest — featuring Reeny Smith, Haliey Smith, Micah Smith (vocals), Geoff Arsenault (drums), Mike Farrington Jr. (bass), Cory Tetford (guitar), Kim Dunn (piano), and Chris Kirby (organ) — was constructed with each artist's particular strength in mind. From there, moods and arrangements of compositions were tailored to highlight their respective talents.

"Being good to each other, you know, in taking care of each other — those are the biggest things I want to put out there," Andersen says of what flows from The Big Bottle of Joy. "If we're in it together, it'll be a lot easier than trying to do it on our own."

A first pour from The Big Bottle of Joy arrives with "Only an Island," which you can take in below via a video of Andersen and the band performing the track in front of a live audience at the Sonic Temple in Halifax, NS, where the album was recorded.

Andersen and the band have also announced plans to embark on a cross-Canada tour, on which they'll be joined by the Hello Darlins. Tickets for all dates are currently onsale, and you can find the complete 29-date tour itinerary below.
