Mati:k

There's a sharp sense of composition in Mati:k's work that takes techno and drum & bass to a level of fine artistry, while maintaining its visceral edge. Like Underground Resistance and Photek, his beats are relentless, but they also carry a slight dissonance that occasionally threatens to destroy all forms of monotony. His drum sounds tend to be dated and are at times reminiscent of classic Front 242, but they express a sense of aggression that remains original without the recognisable signs of contemporary break-beats. Tracks like "Dala In The Vinyl," "Indigo" and "H" are produced with dense layers of strings and various atonal atmospherics, giving the whole of the disc a cinematic, cyber-punk edge.
