Mates of State Announce Best-Of Comp, New EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 1, 2015

Mates of State have been releasing albums for a decade and a half, and the long-running indie pop duo are going to be simultaneously looking to the past and to the future this spring. They have a best-of comp called Greats due out on April 6 through Fierce Panda and a new EP titled You're Going to Make It after that on June 16 through Barsuk/Fierce Panda.

Evidently Mates of State feel their newer material is their strongest, since all 11 songs from Greats were released on albums within the past decade and their early material is entirely omitted. See the tracklist below, and stream the whole thing at the bottom of this page [via Pitchfork].

As for the EP, it consists of five new songs. Apparently, this is the beginning of a new era for the band, since they intend to only release EPs rather than full-lengths from now on.

The band's tour schedule is also below, although it's based only in the U.S. and doesn't include any Canadian stops.
