Mastodon's Brent Hinds and High on Fire's Matt Pike Are Making Music Together

They already have "like two hours worth of ideas"

Last month, Mastodon's Brent Hinds and High on Fire's Matt Pike revealed a collaborative guitar pedal after teasing a team-up in February. Now, it's been revealed that their work together has also led to new music.

Pike elaborated on plans to record with Hinds and his wife, Alyssa Maucere-Pike (Lord Dying), during a recent appearance on the Hot-Blooded podcast.

The High on Fire frontman shared that while the pandemic has derailed the possibility of recording in the same room as Hinds for the time being, the three will have "hours" of material at the ready once it's safe to get back to work.

"I planned on going back [to Brent's] after this next Sleep tour or something and hanging out and sitting down," Pike said. "'Cause we got some stuff done, but it wasn't a major lot. But there's definitely all these… there's like two hours worth of ideas, it's just putting them all together, you know?"

Pike added that the three "want to make it like so we can have different people, like different bass players, different drummers, different singers, different people playing tambourine, whatever [laughs]. Like some sax guys… 'oh, what's that dude doing over there, he's choking a goose!'"

High on Fire toured Canada late last year behind 2018's Electric Messiah.
