While making music outside of their primary band isn't uncommon for members of Mastodon, drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor is the latest member of the Atlanta metal outfit to step out with a new single.

Dailor's debut solo single is a track titled "Red Death," which is set to be included on a six-track soundtrack EP for DC comics' Dark Nights: Metal comic book series.

The track features Dailor on vocals, with instrumental contributions from composer/Marilyn Manson guitarist Tyler Bates, Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (bass) and drummer Gil Sharone.

A press release notes the song serves as a theme for one of the series' antagonists, described as "a twisted, malevolent amalgamation of DC heroes Batman and The Flash."

The soundtrack project, co-produced by both Bates and Elizondo, was announced last year. Take in "Red Death" in the players below.

Dailor and his Mastodon bandmates are set to head out on a North American tour alongside Dinosaur Jr. this summer.
