Published Jan 09, 2014Atlanta metal vets Mastodon are looking to put their recent Thanksgiving T-shirt fiasco behind them by gazing even further into their past for an upcoming reissue of their Call of the Mastodon rarities set.
Originally issued by Relapse Records in 2006, the new repress will arrive via the imprint February 18 on various colours of vinyl. Pre-orders are up now over here for the standard red vinyl edition, as well as for copies on blue/gold (limited to 500) and clear with blue/gold merge splatter (limited to 1,000).
The compilation contains some of Mastodon's earliest material, from demo recordings to their 2001 "Slick Leg" 7-inch and the Lifesblood EP, also issued in 2001. You can check out a snippet of Lifesblood's "Welcoming War" down below in the trailer for the reissue project, which follows similar repress ventures for the band's first two albums, 2002's Remission and 2004's Leviathan.
While Mastodon have yet to detail their full-length follow-up to 2011's The Hunter, the band did recently issue their digital-only Live at Brixton concert set.
